White Sands National Park & Albuquerque - Saturday, 2/29/20

Amazing Park!

Road driving into the park is 8 miles long where you can stop in various locations

Nice walkway should you not want to hike on the gypsum sand

Constantly evolving scenery because of the weather

Dunes are not as high as ours in Michigan, but so beautiful they look like snow

Area where you can enjoy a picnic lunch

Or sliding down the dunes in saucers!

The park is 245 square miles with lots of hiking trails

Beautiful San Andres Mountains on the drive from White Sands to Albuquerque

 Historic District in Albuquerque

 Full of shops and restaurants

Presidio & El Paso - Thursday & Friday, 2/27 &2/28

Drive from Lajitas to Presido is a must!

 Beautiful road with gorgeous scenery

We visited Fort Bliss in El Paso. Maddy’s grandfather served in the army here around 1910.
Fort Bliss is a city within the city of El Paso - has theaters, post office, schools, hotels, housing, museum, churches...... I’ve never seen such a complex.

Lots of old war vehicles in the museum.  This was an actual German cycle used in WWII

Big Bend National Park & Lajitas - Wednesday & Thursday, February 26-27, 2020

Pictures don’t do justice to the awesomeness of this park!

So many varieties and colors or rocks and breathtaking vistas.

I didn’t have my passport so we couldn’t cross into Mexico. Maddy has crossed over on a previous visit and tells me there are bars and restaurants to visit.  So plan accordingly!
