Portugalete Adventure on Saturday morning

Before we left Portugalete, Spain on Saturday morning, Maddy and I walked the promenade along the river, then took the elevator to the top and walked across the Biscay Bridge to Getxo, Spain across the river.  Beautiful views from the top of the bridge!  It was quite windy during our walk across.  We then took the gondola ferry back to Portugalete. Following are a few of the photos on a beautiful morning before we left for Santiago de Compostela. And some words from Maddy:   I forgot to mention that in the north of Spain, they speak Basque.  It is different from Spanish, seems to use more K, X and Z.  The suspended ferry I was telling you about in Portugalete is called a transporter.  It's called the Bizkaier Bridge, built originally in 1893.  There are about ten other transporters; Duluth and Marseilles have one too.
