Memorial to all the children who were working in support of the war effort in Hiroshima and perished when the bomb was dropped
Memorial to Sadako Sasaki - 2 years old when the bomb was dropped. Sadako grew up like her peers and was on her class relay team. In November, 1954, she developed swelling on her neck & behind the ears. She was diagnosed with acute malignant lymph gland leukemia and died in 1955 at the age of 12. She is remembered through the 1,000 origami cranes she folded before her death. Today origami cranes are brought to the memorial made by people of all ages.
